VITA Applauds The Government of Alberta for Recognizing Vape Stores as an Essential Service
Ottawa, ON, March 30th, 2020 – The Vaping Industry Trade Association (VITA) applauds the government of Alberta for recognizing vape shops as an essential service.
“Without access to vaping products, adult vapers could turn back to smoking cigarettes,” said Allan Rewak, VITA Executive Director. “During this current unprecedented state of emergency, it is vitally important that we preserve all access points for adults through both convenience and dedicated adult-use vape stores. We’re grateful for the government of Alberta for recognising this.”
VITA believes that all provincial governments should follow Alberta’s example and deem both convenience stores and dedicated vape stores as essential services.
“As an industry built around reducing harm, we are prepared and eager to work with governments at all levels to preserve access to harm-reducing vape products while keeping consumers and industry members safe”, said Daniel David, VITA President.
Canada’s largest trade association representing the industry’s manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers, VITA is committed to working with stakeholders and governments to set and uphold regulations for vaping products in Canada. VITA’s approach is based on credible evidence, science, facts, and logic. In our efforts to responsibly grow and defend the category, the Association commits to collaborating with Health Canada and other regulatory bodies to identify best practices and to inform the development of evidenced-based regulations.
