VITA Supports the Decision of Government of Newfoundland & Labrador to Allow Curbside Pickup at Vape Stores
Ottawa, ON, March 31st, 2020 – The Vaping Industry Trade Association (VITA) today expressed support for the government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s decision to allow for curb side pick up of vaping products.
“Continued access to vaping products during this time of crisis is vital to keeping adult smokers from turning back to cigarettes,” said Allan Rewak, VITA Executive Director. “We’re encouraged that the government of Newfoundland recognises this”.
VITA believes that all vape access channels should be deemed essential services and operate under strict physical distancing and sanitation protocols.
“Research shows that vaping is significantly less harmful than smoking”, said Daniel David, VITA President. “We need to ensure that as Canadians navigate the COVID-19 crisis, adult smokers who have switched to vaping will continue to have access to the products that helped them quit. The last thing we want to see is vapers returning to smoking due to a lack of access.”
Canada’s largest trade association representing the industry’s manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers, VITA is committed to working with stakeholders and governments to set and uphold regulations for vaping products in Canada. VITA’s approach is based on credible evidence, science, facts, and logic. In our efforts to responsibly grow and defend the category, the Association commits to collaborating with Health Canada and other regulatory bodies to identify best practices and to inform the development of evidenced-based regulations.
