Yukon Vaping Regulations

The Smoke-Free Places Act had not been updated since 2009, however, The Tobacco and Vaping Products Control and Regulation Act was introduced in Yukon’s legislature in early-October 2019, which repeals and replaces the old act. The legislation raises the legal age for purchasing tobacco and vapour products from 18 to 19 years old. This bill also brings vaping more in line with tobacco regulations concerning consumption in public places and advertising.

Consultations took place in May 2019 on the minimum legal age for getting tobacco and vapour products, as well as how such vapour products should be used, promoted and sold.

The government stated the changes were in response to a survey conducted on proposed amendments to the Smoke-Free Places Act.

The bill received royal assent on November 27, 2019.
